The Power of Complaining

The Power of Complaining

Today I want to talk about the power of complaining! Let’s talk about how complaining has helped you, hint – it hasn’t! But it HAS hurt you. Complaining allows you to focus on things that are not beneficial to you and causes you to be a part of the negative masses. The power of complaining is that it makes you a VICTIM and costs you money. As soon as you start focusing on complaining about what’s wrong with life, your brain is not looking for creative ways to bring you profit or ways to achieve a more beautiful life!

Complaining forces you to be a victim so that you feel helpless, passionless, and without motivation. The power of complaining is so destructive, and yet everyone does it. In fact, its difficult NOT to do it because its such a part of our culture.

Friends, I urge you for the next thirty days to participate in a complaining diet, don’t complain about anything! Whether its people on social media being idiots, bad drivers, the weather, or even the government – don’t complain. If you start complaining you must start the thirty day count over again from zero. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all and watch as your life is enlivened.

With this simple solution your creativity will soar, your health will become more vibrant, your relationships will become better, and prosperity will seek YOU out.

There are a couple of things you NEED to know.

1. Success Is An Inside Job

2. We are self-fulfilling prophecies. What you think and speak into the world will become true for you.

I want you to love yourself enough that you take back your power from the complaining monster and stop letting the external world decide your future.

I’ve been working on my Vision Quest today that is coming up on October 5 – 6 of this year. If you are interested in joining me at this event you can visit my website milteer.com.

This Vision Quest for Profit and Purpose is meant for adventurous people who want to take back their life from all of the drudgery that can bring you down. The negative energy, fear, and doubt that is preying on you will disappear and life CAN get better when you decide to vibrate on an entirely different level and change your focus to the positive.

In fact, focus is the secret! Bottom line: what you focus on always expands.

I hope you’ll join me on my Vision Quest, but, most importantly, I hope you will commit to NO complaining for the next thirty days! If you can do that, your life will magnetize incredible miracles and beautiful things to itself.

Mindset Hacks for Summer Stress Relief

Mindset Hacks for Summer Stress Relief

Today we’re going to talk about Mindset Hacks for Summer Stress Relief and how to not let it affect you so much.  Here’s the truth – it’s summer, it’s hot and some people’s tempers flare at this time of year.  There may even be some jealousy creeping in that others have time off and we don’t and it doesn’t seem fair.  Life is moving along at faster pace than it ever has before.  THERE ARE REASONS WE HAVE STRESS!  It’s how we COPE with the stress and defuse it that matters most.

To watch my video click the image below:

Mind Hack #1: When you feel stress, start controlling your self-talk. Too much stress for too long leads to depression.  When you find yourself saying, “I’m so stressed out”, “This is so tiring”, “This is so exhausting”, “I cannot do this all”, “This is not fair” you’re going to get even MORE stressed out!

It’s time to change your self-talk. You need to start to realize that you’re not a victim.  You have volunteered for some of this stress, so UN-volunteer from some of it. Life doesn’t have to be perfect.  It never has been and never will be.

Some Declarations that are helpful are:

  • I am now calm and cool under all circumstances.
  • I am in control of my life; I now can let go and relax; I am in control of all my thoughts and actions;  I am very effective and efficient in stressful situations.
  • I love and honor myself; I have a positive attitude that I can handle myself in all situations.

Mind Hack #2: Remember that EXPECTATIONS ARE THE SOURCE OF ALL SUFFERING!  If you’ve planned an event, launched a new product or service, hired new staff – then you already know things don’t happen exactly the way you want them or expect them to.  That’s just part of life.  The key is to prepare yourself and expect that there will be hiccups, problems, and challenges every day and then your stress goes down because you know those things are going to happen.  That’s a REALISTIC point-of-view.

The key is to change your thinking to be solution-oriented when challenges arise.  Say to yourself, “We will FIND the SOLUTION!”

Mind/Body Hack #3: Another way to gain control over stress is to simply breathe deeply several times.  When your heart is beating too fast because of your anxious feelings, controlled breathing slows your heart and allows you to feel in control again.  Breathing is also an effective form of muscle relaxation.

Yoga and Meditation are fabulous remedies for a lot of stress.  They help you focus on your breathing.  This is a great thing because remember, your mind cannot focus on more than one thing at a time.  When you’re focused on your breath – you aren’t focusing on the chaos happening around you.  This allows you to start to relax.

Mind Hack #4: It’s super-important to love yourself enough to learn the SKILL OF AWARENESS about what stresses you out and what you can do about it.  One thing you can do is have self-imposed “pattern interrupts”.   When you’re stressed out is not the time to make decisions.  Take a few minutes to take a walk, listen to some relaxing music, play with your pet and kids for a few minutes. If you can’t do those then try to get to a place you can be alone. Imagine yourself in your favorite place or a quiet, peaceful location such as in a forest, on the top of a mountain or by the waterfront — a mental Shangri-la.  Not only is this an excellent Pattern interrupt but this type of imagery allows you to focus on something beautiful and emotionally rewarding.  The University of Delaware has done studies proving that imagining a quiet natural scene in your mind will significantly reduce your stress.

Mind Hack #5: to help you with becoming aware of what stresses you out try these:

What can I do today to get away from the world and just take care of myself?

What can I do to have a good day today in spite of reality?

What resources can I use today to get back to my normal positive thinking self?

What friends can I share my problems with that will be a support system?

What self-talk can I start to use now to change my state of mind?

What areas of my life have I allowed myself to be a victim?  What do I want to do differently in the future?

In what areas of my life do I demand that I be perfect?

In what areas of my life am I out of balance?

What activities am I trying to be all things to all people?

What parts of my life am I stuffing my feelings and not venting frustrations?

How can I not take myself so seriously?

One year from today, what will be funny about this situation or my behavior?

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO TO SUPPORT MYSELF?

Mind Hack #5: Give yourself permission to have some positive personal rewards, to appreciate yourself such as: a massage; pampering yourself with a good meal (with dessert); a night out on the town; a hot bubble bath and a glass of champagne; playing Golf or tennis; phoning someone you love to give you a lift; a cleaning service to clean your home.  Anything that empowers you to feel like you are special!  Always keep in mind that bad days don’t last.  This too shall pass.  Empower yourself not to let your state of mind control you — you always control your emotions with your thoughts.

Personally, my staff and I have been working very hard on my upcoming launch for Vision Quest Virginia Beach that’s happening October 5 – 6, 2017 and we all have decided on personal rewards that we will allow ourselves to have once everything settles down.  We aren’t going allow ourselves to get so stressed out that our relationships are harmed, that we don’t take care of our bodies and get sick or that we lose touch with our community.  We’re all looking forward to our own positive personal reward.

Love yourself A LOT more folks! Don’t take life so seriously, no one here gets out alive!
Remember to PACE yourself and remember there’s always a solution to every challenge or problem you face.

Top 10 Hacks to Get You 100% RESPECT

Top 10 Hacks to Get You 100% RESPECT

Today I want to talk with you about how your earn R.E.S.P.E.C.T. in life.  These 10 hacks don’t require any particular talent but boy, do they create massive amounts of respect for you in this world.

Being on Time. This actually means showing up 5 minutes EARLY.  Being early gives you time to get yourself put together and settled at your destination before your meeting.

Work Ethic. Make sure what you turn in and what you give to people is beautiful, correct, easy to read, easy to understand and that you’re doing what is necessary to impress people with your work ethic.

Show Effort. Dress up for the occasion. You all know that we make our first impression in the first 33 seconds of meeting someone. In that time, we decide how old you are, what you do for a living, and should I respect you?  So, you want to show effort in being on time, how you present yourself and your work ethic.

Positive Body Language. Create and maintain eye-contact with people. Show that you are really present with them in this moment. Make sure you are looking at them – not at your phone to show that you are not distracted by other things.  You want your body language to show that you care about them and what they are saying.  It’s very important not to slouch and act like you are bored.

Positive Energy & Passion. Make sure that what you say is positive.

Attitude (If there is a problem, there is a solution.) Your attitude determines whether you’re part of the problem or part of the solution. Don’t be a whiner or complainer. Be FOR things not always AGAINST them.

Being Coachable. Be willing to read books, listen to CDs & DVDs, and attend seminars and retreats to continue learning and growing as a person.  Show that you are really into growth and expanding yourself.

Doing extra. This is different for each person but it’s showing up and doing something a little extra, above-and-beyond what is expected.

Being prepared. Do Your Research.  I just had a new coaching client that a company sent over to me yesterday for an hour and a half appointment and she had no clue who I was or why she was sent to me! I would NEVER hire this person.  In fact, if anyone comes to me and doesn’t know anything about me because they didn’t go to milteer.com to find out who I am, I won’t hire them. They aren’t prepared. They know nothing about me and cannot tailor their presentation or discussion.
If you are going to meet important people, look them up on Google. Do some research on them and find something positive about them to talk about so that they know you’ve gone and done a little extra research.

Showing Gratitude & Appreciation. The reason I say that is because the world is so full of an entitlement mentality.  You know, the people that think they deserve everything with no effort or gratitude. It is such a good thing to show people appreciation and gratitude. Tell them that what they’ve done in your life is valued and appreciated.  Get out a card and handwrite a thank you note.  We receive so many texts and emails every day that they don’t hold as much value as writing a handwritten, mailed card does.

These 10 hacks can help you earn respect and people will want to do business with you.

The Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Travel to Business Conferences

The Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Travel to Business Conferences

I just got back from Cleveland, Ohio where I attended a business event and I feel re-energized about my business, where it’s headed and WHY I love to do what I do.  I learned some things and made great connections while I was there. Today, I want to remind you why you should travel to business conferences.

When I go to events, not just the ones I speak at, but the ones I also go to learn – I make a conscious effort to connect with other people.  I see how others are handling the current challenges in the world.  I see how they are reinventing themselves.  I see how they are capitalizing on the opportunities in their lives to move to the next level of success.

We must schedule at least a few weeks a year where we get out of our everyday environments to help open up our minds to seeing different ways to do business, earn money, and create relationships and have more fun.

The Truth is: If you keep doing things the way you’ve always done them, you may NOT create new business!

It is CRUCIAL that you schedule the time to go to retreats, seminars, and educational events so that you can get out and hobnob with other people, connecting with them in order to do long-term business.

Many of you have heard me refer to people that are not entrepreneurs or business owners as “civilians”.  This is because they do not understand what we do.  It’s important for you to go out and be around other non-civilians.  It is very healing to the entrepreneur’s soul and heart to be around other like-minded souls who do what you do, love what they do and are excited about it.  Their enthusiasm and their excitement will help you come home feeling fresh and excited with a set of new eyes on your business.  This allows you to upgrade your own procedures for greater success.

It’s important to connect with other people that are just like you.

So, just to recap – Here are the Five Reasons You Should Travel to Business Conferences:

  1. No matter how good internet training or online courses are—they will never inspire you like being in front of a really good teacher.  There is more than just spoken words going on.  We literally pick up information from other people on a subconscious level.
  2. Being in a real LIVE learning environment, where OTHERS ASK INTELLENT QUESTIONS, is so beneficial.Plus, the opportunity to learn from others in the hallways and masterminds can add to your level of understanding of the subjects being taught. You can also learn DISTINCTIONS and often times deeper knowledge that you can learn with just the teaching.
  3. You will get to hang out and socialize with people who, if you DON’T go to these events, you would never have the opportunity to meet, learn from, and maybe even do business with. There’s nothing like standing or sitting next to someone, shaking hands and having a conversation.  It’s not just an exchange of words, it’s an exchange of energy, thoughts, and ideas.
  4. Create new Networking relationships.  Meeting people who could be your client’s customers or patients or who you could sell your services or products to.
  5. Getting out of your own environment is good for you. You get to see the world more, meet new people, and experience a fresh perspective.

Remember: It’s often not WHAT you know but WHO you know!

Right now, it’s only June!  We still have 6 months left of 2017, so why don’t we make it the most profitable, exciting and fun by re-exciting ourselves by going somewhere else, exposing ourselves to a lot of new ideas, a lot of new people and not only come home with new business, but a lot of new ideas.

Excitement and enthusiasm are very, very important for everyone in business because it keeps you fresh with an ability to scan your life’s landscape and see new ideas, possibilities, and opportunities.

Until next week!

Magic, Love & Blessings,

Keeping it “Real”

Keeping it “Real”

Today I want to talk about something a lot of people are talking about.  It’s the concept of “Keep it real”.

Click here to watch the video!

I’ve had an experience that will make you want to re-think that “Keep it real” thing.  I’ve been interviewing assistants and salespeople in my office at my publishing company in Virginia Beach, Virginia people are coming in dressed very shabbily and very, very casually.  Meanwhile, my office staff and I have dressed up for them and we’ve cleaned the office to make a good impression. We’ve shown some effort.   These interviewees are showing up in yoga pants and sweaters for professional jobs.  I was going to interview a professional sales person and this gentleman showed up in shorts!  When I got to the door and I saw he had shorts on, I instantly had no desire to interview him.  You see, if someone cannot take a little bit of time or put in the effort to show me they respect me, I have NO desire to invest in you, hire you or present you with an opportunity.

So, let’s think about this “Keep it real” phenomenon where people are showing up on webinars with stubble, looking like they just got out of bed and looking disheveled and they don’t want to dress up.  I read this article the other day about wedding dresses and the bride said, “Oh, I didn’t want to look like a tried too hard.”

This new trend of “keeping it real” is not REALLY serving you if you’re a professional, a business person or are looking to work with other people.  Here’s why:  We make our first impressions in the first 30 seconds of meeting you.  In that 30 seconds we decide:

  • How old you are.
  • What you do for a living.
  • How much money you make…. and the KEY decision is:
  • DO I RESPECT YOU?

If we don’t respect people, we will not buy from them, we won’t trust their opinion and they will have no influence on us.

Yes, there is this thing in the business world where it’s appropriate to have a “good enough is good enough” for reports, etc.  To get the work out the door.  I believe in all of those things, but we’re just taking it too far.  Like the concept of casual Fridays becoming casual “every day.”  I’m not saying you have to dress up in a suit every day, you don’t have to be OVERLY dressed.  What I am saying to you is putting out a little bit of effort, energy, and respect for other people is very, very needed.

Not too terribly long ago, I was interviewing someone for my Millionaire Smarts® group on Skype. When my AV guy got him up on the screen, he looked like he had just gotten out of bed!  He looked sleepy, his hair was messy, he was unshaven and wearing a crumpled up t-shirt.  I was mortified!  If it hadn’t been live, I would have pulled the plug on this guy because he did NOT show respect for the people who were taking the time to listen to what he had to say.

So, we’ve heard this for a long time: “Dress for the job/ position you want.”  I never go to an event that I am not “dressed to the nines” for.  I put on nice jewelry, my hair looks nice and I look good because I actually CARE about what people think of me and I want them to know I spent some time, energy and effort to dress up, to look nice and to present myself in a professional way.

Don’t get lured into “Let’s keep it real” because what they are really saying is “Let’s just lower our standards.”  I totally disagree with that!  So, mold this into your own style and personality and what you do, but I will tell you – you probably have a lot of nice clothes rotting in your closet, going out of style just because you’re “keeping it real!”   It’s a trend I am not going to fall into.  That doesn’t mean I dress to the nines for everything I do.  But when it comes to people, clients or anything like that I do put on my best face for them and respect them because you can NEVER change that first impression!

I hope you start to dress up more.  You have nice clothes!  It will improve your confidence and you will feel good.  When you feel good, you’re actually tapping into the right and left sides of your brain which will leave people with a much more powerful memory and impression of who you are.
