As a mindset coach, I am most aware that entrepreneurs focus primarily on marketing, performance, and productivity. There is often a lack of understanding about mindset. Dan Kennedy is the biggest proponent of the importance of mindset because he truly understands that you must look at life with clear and concise thinking. When your thinking becomes clouded, jaded and unproductive, your profits will start to go down.
When it comes to your current mentality, the first thing to ask yourself is “who is influencing me?” The late Jim Rohn said that you are the five people you associate with. One of the keys to staying on track is paying attention to who and what influences you.
It’s important that you keep your Mindset on the right track at all times if you want good results in your life and business. What you focus on expands. Have you fallen into bad thinking habits looking for what is wrong in life? It’s easy to do this because of the people you associate with.
You have the ability to look for what is good in your life and business instead of looking at what’s bad. Your power is internal, not external, and you have the ability to program yourself to succeed.
Your mindset is determined by the caliber of information that is consistently and repeatedly put into your brain. With that in mind, you can see why it’s detrimental for entrepreneurs to start their morning reading the newspaper or listening to the news. When you expose yourself to negative media every morning, it’s like starting your day out by opening a vein and putting poison directly into your body.
I’m not saying be ignorant about what’s going on. I’m saying pay attention to what is relevant to your business and your personal well-being and let the rest of the world take care of itself; it always has and it always will. Your job is to take care of your business, your family, your customers, your clients, your patients – everybody that is around you; it’s not to fix the world.
Your mindset has to be seeded literally every day with inspiring, uplifting information that enlivens you and gives you inspiration and hope.
Negative news, hanging around civilians and negative people depletes you. Being around negative people erodes your enthusiasm and your ability to scan the landscape of your reality to see the pockets of opportunity, money, and change. Your mindset is what allows you to perceive upcoming trends and capitalize on them.
Take inventory of your influences. Make a list of who and what gives you good feelings and enlivens your spirit, and who and what drags you down and leaves you feeling negative, bitter, or down. Your job is to release what drags you down. The truth is, there is little sense in attempting to change other people or external conditions. You must first change your inner beliefs and then outer conditions will change accordingly. It’s not your job in life to fix others. Your real job is to nurture yourself.
Create a Great Day!
